Best conference accommodation ever…

We were three guys attending a conference at the Orthodox Academy of Crete in Kolymbari. This time we wanted something new for our accommodation instead of just another boring hotel stay. So we started searching for some nice villa not too far away from the conference venue. And luckily we spotted this magnificent M&M villa and it was still free to book. Although we were actually on a business trip it felt
like a holiday in the mornings and evenings when we could enjoy the very nice swimming pool (with a view!) and the numerous amenities of the house.
Especially the second floor veranda was superb for spending free time with good food and drinks and taking pleasure in the wonderful panorama view from the mountains to the valley ending up to the seaside!
And from Manolis the owner we got a very useful tip for our only proper day off. And thanks for the advice we drove to the stunning Falasarna beach (not too crowded) for a nice swim and suntan and delicious lunch on a
slope restaurant. That final day topped off our memorable week at this terrific villa! Thank you very much! Jouni, Erik and Alex

We loved the amount of space at this villa, it’s a huge traditional property with a beautiful pool & gardens kept immaculate by Manolis. He prepared a lovely meal on arrival which was gratefully received, the Greek hospitality is the best in the world. I would not hesitate to recommend this villa, perfect for a family of 6. We particularly liked the upper balcony where we had our meals overlooking the olive trees & sea & mountains with a lovely breeze. Manolis had left lots of information on the surrounding area & best bakery etc. He spoke perfect English & was a true gentleman with great attention to detail, he gave us a gift of olive oil to bring home too. A wonderful villa in a superb setting. Manolis was waiting for us when we arrived, even though it was gone midnight, with a smile and a lovely home prepared meal. The villa is superbly equipped and beautifully furnished. The pool is big with plenty of space around it for sunbathing or sitting in the shade. It has a pool house with a bathroom which like all the villa, is beautifully finished and very convenient as the pool is accessed by walking around the villa through a lovely garden.

The view from the balcony is a wonderful panoramic scene of olive groves, white mountains and sea, it really is spectacular!

The nearest village is Kolymbari which is 3 minutes drive. It has great supermarkets and some lovely tavernas and restaurants. I would highly recommend Palio Arhontiko on the sea front. It’s extremely high class cuisine at reasonable prices. Try the Mushroom starter – Wow!

Royal Octopus diving is superb. We snorkelled with them and I completed my PADI open water.

In summary, we had an amazing holiday in a wonderful villa. Thanks Manolis. We WILL be back!

It was for the second time that we rented the villa and as last year, it was marvelous. The villa is very spacious and has all comfort, the swimming pool is lovely and beautiful and the bathroom nearby very comfortable.

The view is amazing, the sea and the hills. Quiet and yet nearby Kolymbari, a restfull and beautiful place at the sea, not overcrowded and with many nice restaurants.

The owner Manolis is very friendly and even cooked for us a special cretan stifado!

everything was provided, even a welcome diner and some food for the first morning!

there is beautiful spacious terrace but the only minor point was the difficulty to shelter for the sun in the morning, there was a curtain but because of the wind, this was not really efficient.

It was the best villa we ever had during our vacation and we hope to come again.

Outstanding! Beautiful pool, villa, and country side. Very private. Sleeps six comfortably. The bleating of the neighbor’s goats and calls from the roosters added to the ambiance. The view is terrific. See what an entire valley of olive trees looks like. Manolis is a wonderful gentleman who was very responsive with our questions before we arrived, left us a great meal for our late arrival and demonstrated great pride in his villa.

Somewhat remote, about 30 minutes from Chania, but close to beautiful beaches we shared with only a few locals on very warm mid September days and charming mountain villages close by. The crush from the cruise ships generally didn’t reach this far. Excellent restaurants, bakery and market near by.

M&M villa is well located and ideal for those who want to discover western Crete or just relax around a unique and spacious pool. It is situated on the hillside of Marathokefala with great sea and mountain views, only 2 kilometers away from the town of Kolymbari with its many facilities (supermarkets, butchers, bakery and pastry shop, pharmacy, post office, bank and ATM) which are all at the disposition of the travelers during their stay. Kolymbari is also the place where one will find the closest beach to the villa and a variety of beautiful cafes, taverns and restaurants by the sea side. Ideal for those who would like to enjoy good Cretan traditional dishes while admiring a great sea view. In addition to the above, one will also find in the villa’s area some of the most beautiful beaches that the Mediterranean has to offer : Falarsana, Elafonissi, Balos-Gramvoussa and others. Vibrant night life can be found at 15 minutes away from the villa by car at Platanias. Chania, 30 minutes away from the villa by car, a jewet not to be missed, is the area’s biggest center known all over Greece for its old Venetian town and harbor. All for you to discover and enjoy! A simply stunning villa, pool and location!!!

We have recently returned having spent three weeks in Villa M&M with our family and cannot praise this villa highly enough. There was nothing that Manolis (the owner) hadn’t thought of to make our stay more enjoyable including music CDs, movie DVDs and a selection of books (in his library) along with a very well equipped kitchen. The villa is very comfortable & spacious and being on two levels meant that we (the grandparents) could have our own space and also be with the family on the upper floor for evening meals and drinks on the balcony which looks across at the beautiful White Mountains and surrounding countryside. On our arrival, Manolis had prepared a meal with wine and soft drinks so that we didn’t need to go shopping until the next day.

Everything is immaculately kept and very clean and exactly as shown in the photographs. He even provides towels for use around the pool, something we have never come across before when renting a villa. There is a large family bathroom beside the pool, with a shower and toilet. The pool is amazing and the view is breath taking. Manolis cleans the whole area every day in the early morning so that it doesn’t disrupt your day and once a week the pool is deep cleaned. The pool is cleaned without the use of chemicals but with salt.

The gardens are quite amazing with olive and fruit trees and some beautiful flowers, particularly the beautiful Angels Trumpets which flowered for the last couple of days of our stay. There is also a herb garden which clients are welcome to use if they do their own cooking. The downstairs apartment has a balcony that overlooks the garden and is so quiet and peaceful. Nothing to be heard but birdsong.

We all enjoyed our stay at M&M villa, which was in a fantastic location to explore the Eastern side of Crete and cannot thank Manolis enough for making our stay so enjoyable.

Notre séjour à la villa M&M nous laisse une merveilleuse impression d avoir goûté à un petit paradis. Tant par le repos et le calme que nous y avons trouvé que par la beauté du lieu et l’aménagement confortable et soigneux de la villa très bien équipée où tout y a été bien pensé pour ne manquer de rien. Manolis a été d’un accueil très chaleureux, nous attendant avec un delicieux repas grec frais, bien apprécié après la route. Le jardin aux mille senteurs, plantes et fleurs variées est un ravir. Nous avons pu profiter de quelques oranges, citons et mandarines tombant des arbres fruitiers. Nous parents et nos deux adolescents avons beaucoup apprécié la grande piscine privée à l’abri des regards toujours propre, entretenue tous les matins très tôt par le propriétaire très discret mais toujours disponible si besoin.

Nous reviendrons sans aucun doute y séjourner lors de prochaines vacances en Crête.

This was a beautiful villa in a beautiful location with an absolutely fabulous pool. We have never stayed anywhere where we have been made to feel so welcome and where the host, the charming Manolis, was as generous with provisions and gifts. The pool was immaculately clean and Manolis’ information pack was both exceptionally helpful and extremely informative with some great suggestions for trips, restaurants and general information. The incessant chirruping of the wildlife and the spectacular swooping swallows into the pool in the morning were a Creten delight , not to mention the beautifully maintained gardens bursting with ripening fruit and olives that produce delicious Olive Oil (thanks to Manolis). The villa afforded amazing privacy, the pool area was totally secluded and had amazing views. Thanyou to Manolis for your hospitality and allowing us to stay in your beautiful villa.

We have stayed in some lovely villas in (mainly) Greek Islands and mainland Greece – with many of them in the Western Crete area too. We have to say, though, that in common with all previous reviews for this Villa – M & M villa is the best we have stayed in, by far.

It is a spacious villa in a beautiful location that will not disappoint. The villa is on a large plot on a hillside with great views of the mountains on the right and the sea to the left. – a lovely position and a view we never tired of.

Everything worked well and was clearly well-maintained. We kept saying how fortunate we were to have found this property and owner

It is exceptionally well equipped – there was nothing in the kitchen that I felt was missing – everything was to hand – and spotlessly clean. The information kept in the villa was comprehensive and really useful. As were the variety of CDs to listen to.

The layout of the Villa was such that our party (my husband and myself; and my sister and her husband – all over 60!) had relative privacy in more or less separate accommodation – just coming together on the first floor for meals and drinks over-looking the sea

The owner (Manolis) could not have done anything else make our holiday more enjoyable. A welcome meal with Wine and Raki was awaiting us on our arrival, which was wonderful after an early start in the UK. We were also given home-made produce, all of which was absolutely delicious. We were encouraged to pick fresh herbs and a variety of fruit from the beautifully maintained garden; Additionally we were given some Olive Oil (produced from the trees in the grounds), to take home with us.

The generous hospitality provided by Manolis was completely unobtrusive and in our experience quite rare.

The large pool ranging from one to two metres in depth was fabulous to swim in and always clean (it is a chemical free pool, using salt – a boon for Asthma sufferers). It was cleaned daily early in the morning, and whilst some of our party were up and about at that time – it was maintained in a very unobtrusive manner

We were so sorry to leave the villa. We never did get to take the short walk up through the village to see the cave there – guess we’ll just have to come back soon ……

Special location with great views from both terraces, very comfortable with every thing one could wish for to hand. This is a spacious villa in a beautiful location that delivers on all fronts – a true delight. From first contact the owner, Manolis, set the standard with a thoughtfulness I have not met before. He arranged for a meet and greet at the airport so we could follow to the villa in our hire car and, although the villa is not hard to find, it meant a stress-free arrival. Once at the villa Manolis gave a comprehensive tour of the property and explained how everything worked. He also provided a most delicious meal and some local groceries so we did not need an immediate trip to the shops – much appreciated. Among these were his own organic olive oil and marmalade which was a lovely touch.

The villa is maintained, decorated and cleaned to a high standard and is well equipped with equipment and appliances. It is on a large plot on a hillside in the small village of Marakothefala, near Koymbari and has wonderful views of olive groves, the coastline and White Mountains. We found the situation ideal for exploring the area, though a hire car is necessary. The villa is on two levels – the entrance door is on the ground floor and leads to a self-contained master bedroom suite, consisting of bedroom, very large bathroom, a lounge and kitchenette. Running the width of suite is a large veranda overlooking the gardens. Also on this level is a double-sized garage that is a utility area. There is a washer/dryer for guest use and a full range of washing and cleaning products. A wide marble staircase leads to the next level and the main area of the villa. Here are two bedrooms – a double and a twin with a shared shower room between, a lounge and dining area and a good sized, well-equipped kitchen. There is a large veranda with views already described. All bedrooms have generous wardrobe and drawer space with plenty of hangers. There is s mobile phone provided so guests can call Manolis if the need arises, or they want some advice about local attractions etc. Another nice touch. Outside the gardens are productive as well as beautiful, with olive trees, fruit trees, (especially citrus), aloe vera and peppers as well as flowering plants. There is an extensive herb garden. A path through the garden leads to the pool which is private and not overlooked and which has the same views of olive groves, coast and mountains.

There are ample sunbathing areas on all four sides so it is easy to find sun or shade. There is a patio table and chairs and a convenient shower room/toilet to save trips back to the house. The entire pool area and pool is cleaned daily very early so as not to be intrusive. The area looks new, though it was added in 2009, and is testament to the quality of the build and the care taken of the whole property. This is a gem of a place, made even more special because of the owner’s thoughtfulness, availability and professionalism. I would stay here again and I would have no hesitation in recommending it to my family and friends. Manolis has a winning formula. A beautiful private villa. Wonderful and relaxing.

We were so sorry to leave this villa. We have stayed in some beautiful villas, cottages and even cruise ships in amazing destinations, but in our opinion M&M Villa was the most outstanding for cleanliness, facilities and situation. It was just a short drive to the shops. We would recommend the short walk up through the village to see the cave there.

On our late arrival Manolis had some wonderful food prepared for us, along with raki and wine.

We did not want to leave the villa, even though it was our first stay in Crete and on the occasions we did had to force ourselves to leave the gorgeous, warm, large, private pool with stunning views, surrounded by orange trees and jasmine flowers. Manolis cleaned the pool and gardens every morning, but before we were up.

The villa had everything we needed and lots more besides. If there was something we wanted or any help needed, then Manolis was at the end of the phone at any time.

There are lots of books, CD’s and videos for entertainment and listening to Handel whilst watching the red full moon rise from over the mountains was magical. My mum said that she could now die happy! In 70 years she hasn’t seen anything like it.

We would like to say a massive thank you to Manolis for renting out this superb villa and for all of his help and meeting us at the airport.

We cannot recommend this place enough.

This Villa is amazing

The villa is the best we have ever stayed in. It is exceptionally well equipped and spotlessly clean. The owner could not have done anything else make our holiday moe enjoyable. We were able to pick fresh herbs and lemons from the beautiful garden; a welcome meal and drinks were provided on our arrival, which was wonderful We were also given home made produce, which was all delicious. The views from the balconies are stunning with mountains on the right and the sea to the left. The pool was fabulous to swim in with no chemical smells and always clean. The owner was always on hand to answer questions but we never felt intruded upon. We would have no hesitation in recommending this villas, it is a very special place.

As stated in all the previous reviews this villa is really 5 star(+). We had a personal reception at the airport, a full meal including wine and beer provided for our first night and Manolis & Marcel were then on hand at a press of the supplied mobile phone were we in need of anything else. The pool was cleaned every day without us noticing and having thought long and hard there is nothing that could be improved upon.

A car is essential for the location but everything you need is then a short drive away including shops, many restaurants and beaches; the best one is at Falassarna which is a 20 minute drive but well worth it.

Overall I would have no hesitation in returning to or recommending M&M Villa to others.

Spacious villa with beautiful pool / garden!

The villa is everything the pictures and earlier reviews promise. Both terraces are overlooking seemingly endless olive trees as well as the Mediterranean See. The pool can be reached by a very short path through the garden. The water is crystal clear (temperature was 32 degrees!).

Manolis is doing his utmost in order for his guests to have a splendid stay. The house is very well equipped and clean. Beach can be reached within 5 minutes.

Having spent two weeks in the M&M villa we have every reason to claim that this is as close to perfection as you can get. The house is comfortable in all respects and beautifully situated with a wonderful view of the whole coastline between Kolymbari and Chania. This was our second stay at this lovely villa, three wonderful weeks! Words can not truly express how fantastic our stay was again! The hosts have once again surpassed all expectations, they are amazing. You truly feel like honoured guests! The villa, pool and gardens are immaculate. The gardens are beautiful with orange and lemon trees that you can pick for your own use and an abundance of fresh herbs for your cooking not to mention the lovely flowers, olive trees and plants. They have left nothing to chance…they have thought of everything including picking you up at the airport ensuring a stress free arrival at the villa. Upon arrival there is an array of food they have prepared for you to alleviate the need of immediately trying to locate groceries. Very important if you have a late arrival time. There is even a book they have made up explaining all the things to do and see nearby and maps so you will have no trouble navigating around. One of my favourite things are the luxurious bath towels, oh so soft! I can not recommend this villa more enthusiastically. If you are looking for a beautiful Villa near amenities but still private with a killer view you need look no further. This place has it all! This villa is an Oasis in this crazy hectic world. You will leave relaxed, refreshed and ready to face the world again! Thank you so much for making our vacation a vacation to remember!

The warmth and welcome of our hosts was exceptional, the villa was of a very high standard, immaculate and very well equipped, the garden was such a peaceful place to wander around especially loved the flowers, fruit & olive trees, herb garden and the abundace of lovely roses. The pool was also exceptional tranquil and very enjoyable with wonderful views whilst swimming. Everything about M&M Villa, the garden and pool exceeded our expections and one day would love to return to our “home from home” and enjoy the amazing surroundings. Wonderful villa

We have had a wonderful week at M&M villa. The villa is even better than the photographs – the views are stunning and the garden in particular is magical. The swimming pool was lovely – and was kept immaculately clean. We were made very welcome – from being met at the airport and shown the way to the villa to having a fantastic meal prepared for us on arrival. We were also given a basket of fruits from the garden, home-made preserves and other provisions. The owner, Manolis, could not have been more helpful. Highly recommended.

Owner’s Response:  I would like to thank this beautiful family of 5 who came from Denmark and chose Crete as their vacation destination. I would also like to thank them for staying at my villa and for taking the time to share with other vacationers their appreciation of their experience. I am happy to see that they all had a fantastic vacation and that the house, pool and surroundings had a lot to do with it. In fact the house was perfect for them. It is spacy, well equipped and very comfortable. The 2 level concept with its large verandas overlooking the sea and the gardens is a great asset which I am very proud of and is very appreciated by families, group of friends or even couples which have stayed at the villa. The pool is large and private as well as the property which is entirely fenced. The fully equipped washroom with shower by the pool side as I have been told so many times by the guests is a feature that is greatly appreciated and prevents a lot of trips back and forth to the house for washroom needs. The property is well situated, quiet while being close to all amenities. Welcome back! -Manolis

Fantastic Villa

We have passed 3 weeks of formidable vacation. Our hosts have treated us with great care. When requested they shared with us their indebt knowledge of the island and gave us advice as to some of the excursions to do and things to see and go to, such as the best restaurants and taverns in the area and other venues. Their kindness and availability to us was exemplary. As we came in the villa, a superb meal and a basket of goods introducing us to local products was waiting for us. FANTASTIC! The pool is superbly big and the water is superbly clean at all times due to the constant efforts shown by our hosts who early mornings without disturbance would see to the pool and the pool area. The house has two levels and is ideal. Like everything else, it is well up-kept. The bedrooms and bathrooms are furnished with taste and the linen is of very good quality. The kitchen is equipped with everything needed and in sufficient quantity which is very rare in a holiday villa. The view from the second level balcony is exceptional…the sea and olive trees as far as the eyes can see. The location of the villa is perfect and the surroundings are calm. We have really adored this fantastic villa. We have already booked 3 weeks for the summer 2015 and cannot wait to relive our vacation there! Again I would like to thank our charming hosts for these marvellous vacations. Nathalie

What a wonderful two weeks we have just had! Your villa is fantastic with breathtaking views not only of the beautiful garden but to the olive groves beyond. everything you can think of and more is to hand and your attention to detail is first class.

The pool.. what can we say? We loved it, so big, so clean, so clear and so relaxing…. definitely the best ever.

“A little piece of Heaven on Earth!”

Words can not truly describe the M & M Villa experience! If I had to sum it up in one word it would be “Paradise”. From the moment we arrived and escorted from the airport to the greeting at the villa, we were made to feel very welcome. Upon arriving there was a lovely array of food prepared for us as well as local products and fruit so we could just relax after traveling and not have to run out for groceries immediately..

The villa is elegant and tastefully decorated and comfortable. In no time at all we felt very much at home. The hosts are AMAZING! They have thought of every possible need that could arise. They are very friendly and helpful. There is even a welcome book they have prepared with hand drawn maps, tips on the local villages with where to eat and where good shops are for breads, pastries and to dine. Everything at your fingertips so to speak. No request is a bother and they are very willing to help in anyway.

The pool is fabulous! Very private and relaxing. The views from the verandas are spectacular! The sea, the mountains or the garden full of olive trees, citrus tress and flowers which is beautifully landscaped make this villa an Oasis!

There is not one thing I would change about the villa or our vacation expect to make the vacation and our stay longer! The thirteen days went by in a blissful dream.

I would highly recommend this villa to everyone. Elegance, comfort, close to many things, just perfect! Thank you for allowing us to stay at your lovely villa! Your hospitality will be long remembered.

A beautiful place

We had a wonderful week in the villa of Manolis. The welcome Manolis gave us was more then warm and full with nice surprises. He prepared a lovely lunch with ham, chees, fresh bread, selfmade thyme honey, marmelade, tzatziki, olive oil. The oranges and lemons hung in the trees in the garden. The house has everything you need for a perfect holiday. A stunning view from the balcony over the olive fields and sea and the mountains in the distance. Laugh of the noise of the sheep and goats in the fields. The pool is beautiful and very large. If you want to enjoy Greek nature, a quiet place and in the neighbourhood of a small village with some excellent restaurants, this is the place to be.

We had a wonderful 2 weeks at M & M Villa, Manoulis the owner was so attentive to our every need. He contacted us prior to our arrival asking what our interests were and his leads were very helpful. The villa is beautiful, the garden is a delight and the views from the veranda is breathtaking. The swimming pool is every bit as amazing as the pictures show and Kolymbari is a lovely small town by the coast, complete with weekly market and a great selection of restaurants. We will be returning!

The hosts were very hospitable in fact it’s the only time we have been met at the airport and escorted to the Villa they were genuinely pleased to accommodate our every needs in fact they made our stay more enjoyable they left nothing to chance ensuring that the Villa was spotlessly clean the pool and surrounding areas were cleaned without fail every day.The location and description was exactly what we had expected,the facilities were far more the home produced olive oil the lemons oranges the herb garden all at our disposal a little piece of heaven.

As for the surrounding areas Chania was well worth a visit with it’s Venitian port and history as was the German war cemetry not far away from the Villa. Manolis will know doubt fill you in on the history of the region .I would recommend M&M Villa to friends family groups it is as lively or peaceful as you want it to be

Un lieu de vacances idéal pour découvrir le côté ouest de la Crète. Nous avons énormément apprécié la gentillesse, la discrétion, les conseils des propriétaires, leur souci constant de répondre à nos questions, leur envie de nous faire découvrir leur belle île.

La description de la villa correspond en tous points à la réalité. La piscine est exclusivement réservée aux locataires et elle est parfaitement entretenue. La batterie de cuisine est complète et de qualité.

Tout est pensé et organisé pour que l’on puisse passer d’excellentes vacances.

Owner’s Response:  Dans la vie que nous menons qui est parfois tumultueuse, il faut prendre le temps pour des vacances et refaire le plein afin de poursuivre notre route. Cette chance nous vient normalement qu’une fois l’an. Il ne faut donc pas rater son coup et il est impérieux d’en faire un succès. Chez M&M Villa, nous faisons nôtre cette vision! Aussi nous tentons de faire en sorte que les vacanciers qui choisissent d’y loger reçoivent plus qu’un toit!
